Wabisabi Project is all about textiles and craft, based in Bagru, the hub of woodblock printing. They cultivate dying crafts like Jajam, one of the only community crafts evident in history.
I was assigned to design a worker apparel ready-to-wear collection upcycling these beautiful Jajam textiles, as a means to celebrate natural dye, block printing on different weight muslins.
Based solely on the process, picking inspiration from the practice, and applying them to either the fabric treatment or the silhouette. Worker clothing being the main focus comfort and utility are the foremost priority. Paying homage to the craft and natural dyeing the attention to detail in terms of finishing, fit and aesthetic is especially explored. most of all the attempt is to create delightful spaces for instance via pockets enhancing utility
This project helped me learn about the intricacies of natural material and how creatively to explore and apply these methods.
